I love that the NS1 feels super comfortable
After a year of putting it to the test, we asked Ventum athletes Erika Ackerlund and George Hincapie to share their thoughts on the NS1 road bike.
Where do you feel the NS1 excelled, and if you rode the previous model what were the biggest differences?
The very first day I rode an NS1, I remember thinking it was so much more comfortable and smooth of a ride than my previous race bike. The first day I got on the NS1, just riding down the street from my house, again I thought it was smoother than before. I think that’s the NS1’s best selling point, that it’s a smooth ride in a bike that’s ready to race. I also love how comfortable the integrated handlebar is when riding.
What was your favorite moment on the bike?
When I was stopped mid-ride by someone who asked to take a picture of my bike because she liked it so much! (the pink NS1!)
What was the wildest moment on the bike last year?
Racing Superleague Toulouse on my NS1. The course is super dynamic with hills, surface changes, and blind corners descending through a French city. There was no moment during the race that didn’t require 100% focus and effort.
Where do you feel the NS1 excelled, and if you rode the previous model what were the biggest differences?
I love that the NS1 feels super comfortable yet very responsive when you need it. It’s the perfect all-around bike.
What was your favorite moment on the bike?
I really enjoyed racing the NS1 with my son Enzo last April. We were in the first group and I was able to be his domestique for the day and help him chase down some breakaways.
What was the wildest moment on the bike last year?
The wildest moment on the NS1 was when I did Grand Fondo Bogota in Colombia at 8,000 feet. It was super fast and I suffered a lot, but seeing the amount of riders and the passion they have for the sport was exhilarating.
