Mike is a professional triathlete based in Christchurch, New Zealand, coached by the highly regarded John Hellemans. Coming from a background in short course ITU racing Mike transitioned to long distance triathlon in 2015, he has competed in 29 international Ironman/Challenge 70.3 & full events, finishing on the podium in 23 of them.
Mike competed in his debut IRONMAN in 2017, finishing in the Worlds Fastest debut time of 7.52.50. This shifted Mikes focus earlier than expected to the IRONMAN World Championships. Finishing 16th in his first attempt in 2018, he is heading back with the goal of reaching the top 10. Mike secured qualification by winning IRONMAN New Zealand, with a new run course record of 2.40.04.
Mike spends his summers in Christchurch NZ, training and racing throughout the Asia/Oceania region. In between training he also works part time as Structural Engineer at BAT Structures working on the Canterbury Re-build. During New Zealand winters Mike heads overseas to Europe for 3 months of intensive training & racing.
