Nathan Killam is a Fireman, Family Man, and Professional Triathlete. Nathan is a true renaissance athlete bouncing between Superleague short course racing, and an impressive 3rd place podium at IRONMAN Mont Tremblant in 2019. You can also find Nathan off-road (usually on a road bike but now on his GS1) in the wilds of Vancouver, BC.

Here is what Nathan has to say about the GS1:

“The head tube angle feels amazing. I tried a longer 110mm stem yesterday, and today for the longer ride I ran a shorter stem to get the reach back a bit, 90mm at -10 slammed. It was UNREAL on tech and loose. It was super responsive but really stable. We were riding some pretty steep and chundery gravel roads today at speed (I think I maxed out at only 67.8km/hr but it felt WAY faster) and it feels so stable at speed even if it’s loose and chunky. We rode some MTB trails with some pretty steep stuff. No big drops but definitely a touch of tech. The shorter stem let me get way back over the saddle and the bike rolls out steep flawlessly.

I even found when skidding all over the place the front end was super in control and the back end stayed back, it didn’t have the tendency to try and come around. So getting the rear end a bit loose on corners isn’t too concerning. I’ll be riding a black MTB trail on it with a lot of berms, jumps, rolls, drops, and all the things that make biking fun. I’ll obviously ride around the super hard stuff but I’ll be able to really push the limits of the bike.

I was able to find some fun and get some air in places and over things. It feels really stable when you land and I even caused a washout, it took it like a boss and no issue. It’s really solid. I feel confident it’ll take some big hits without batting an eye.

Climbs well. We were hitting some 30%+ grades today with a loose and chunky surface. It had a good balance of weight, able to keep the front end down but still hook up on the rear. My tires were the weak point today, but some of the steep climbs had such large loose that even a MTB is tough to ride. It was almost max effort at times just to keep moving up, barely in control. I think we climbed 1400m in the first 75min of riding. It was hard and hot and glorious.”
